Training Overview

Curious about Deaf culture, Filipino Sign Language and how a big population of Deaf professionals are employed by various BPOs in the Philippines working as non-voice customer service associates and project mangers?


Join us on February 18, 2025 as we conduct the second training in the Inclusive Business Potential Learning Sessions, Deaf Awareness and Workforce Integration in the Philippines. This will be facilitated by Deaf employment advocates and a Filipino Sign Language instructor from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Deaf Advocacy Program Coordinator Mr. Francis Ethelbert Pagaduan, and Deaf Employment Program Coordinator, Ms. Patricia Ellen Crisanto. This session will discuss about Deaf culture, teach a few words in Filipino Sign Language, and explain the employment framework proven effective in hiring Deaf professionals in the Philippines.

  • Understand the Filipino Deaf culture
  • Learn a few words in Filipino Sign Language

    Deaf Advocacy Program Coordinator and Filipino Sign Language Instructor at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde

    Francis Ethelbert Pagaduan was born and raised in Davao City, Boston. Currently residing and working in Manila as the Deaf Advocacy Program Coordinator of the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies under De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Francis is also a part-time FSL teacher for the same organization. His expertise and dedication to teaching and advocating for FSL has also led him to co-found FSL Treasure and FSL Tutor; groups that aim to promote the use of FSL.

    Apart from his experiences within the private sector, Francis is also well-connected with the community. He is a member of the Southern Mindanao Deaf Cooperation Council, as well as the Philippine Federation for the Deaf - Youth Sector, and is assigned the chairperson for this year's International Day of Sign Languages- Southern Mindanao. He also held a position in the government sector as a GIS Specialist. He also dabbled in performance arts as an actor for the theatre play, "The Forest", and the popular film on FSL, "Isa Pa with Feelings."

    Francis also enjoys cooking, singing in Filipino Sign language, and playing volleyball. A few assets that also make him known in the Deaf community.

    Deaf Employment Program Coordinator at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde

    Patti Crisanto is a passionate advocate for inclusivity and Deaf empowerment, currently serving as the Deaf Employment Program Coordinator at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies since 2021. In this role, she fosters industry-academe partnerships, develops sustainable program policies, and advances employment opportunities for the Deaf. Patti is also a Content Development Specialist for Tapuat, where she creates marketing articles, educational modules, and grant proposals. With extensive teaching experience at GOALS Therapy Center and the Integrated Center for the Young, she empowers students through tailored learning approaches and also works as a Freelance Filipino Sign Language Interpreter.

    Patti was a YSEALI Fellow (Spring 2024) under the US State Department, focusing on Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. She has also contributed to global discussions on Deaf employment, presenting research at Workability Asia 2022 and the World Federation for the Deaf 2023. Patti earned her B. Elementary Education, Major in Special Education (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
