AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

The 2019 Novel Coronavirus has opened our eyes to the fragility of our health and economic systems. This has forced everyone to learn from our failures, adapt to new ways of doing things, and put aside individual priorities in order to contribute to the collective welfare. Today, the government's priorities in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic are to overcome the health emergency and implement rapid economic rescue measures to get the economy and livelihoods quickly back on their feet.

This calls for urgent action to explore effective approaches to ensure better recovery and build resilience to future shocks by regaining investment opportunities and implementing well-designed recovery policies that will provide and protect livelihoods and trigger investment and economic changes which will reduce the likelihood of future impacts and increase society's resilience when disaster does occur.

Join us again this month as we host our 5th Virtual General Membership Meeting on August 19, 2020 with the topic "Rebuilding a More Sustainable and Resilient Philippines: IATF's Response to COVID-19 as we Move Forward". Learn with us as we listen from our honorable guest speaker, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei B. Nograles, co-chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) in the Philippine government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He will discuss the government's strategies and efforts in rebuilding and restarting a more sustainable recovery and making the country more resilient to future impact. He will share on how the government aims to reorient our political, economic, and social systems at all levels that will in turn help us, the citizens, begin to have a disposition in fostering a more sustainable and resilient country.
