Mark Gorriceta, and Nomura Research Institute Senior Manager, Rose Ferrer.
With the pandemic at hand and its demand for precautionary measures such as contactless solutions among others, the rise of digitization has undeniably been discerned to a great extent. FinTech plays a vital role in contributing to addressing the challenges precipitated by the health crisis. Despite the immense benefits that it offers, unfortunately, it has also created an avenue for cybercrime attacks.
We also recognize the importance of cybersecurity in conducting our businesses and day-to-day life. Cybersecurity threats including phishing, botnet, malware, ransomware, cryptojacking, web and mobile application attacks, hacks, and data leakages among others became rampant, and these necessitate us to take preventive measures. We must ensure that we treat cybersecurity as a priority in this day and age-- that we act upon prevention rather than cure.
