Threats and Disruptions Posed by Disasters to Industries in the Philippines

AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Event Details

From the recent eruption of the Taal Volcano last January 12, 2020 to the global panic on the threat posed by the Novel Coronavirus 2019, disasters continue to affect people and the business landscape of countries like the Philippines. Crises such as the ones mentioned affect many, if not all, industries. However, to properly examine how different sectors are affected, they must be probed into in chunks, given the diverging natures of different industries.

In light of the nature of the topic, AmCham is holding a series of meetings with different host committees to fully explore the different facets of the Philippines business ecosystem as affected by disasters.
