The recent coronavirus pandemic has disrupted education systems worldwide, putting a spotlight on serious gaps in the capacity to respond to the needs of all learners. Neither teachers nor families were prepared to dive into a remote learning and working situation. Adequate digital equipment or insufficient broadband access challenged the adaptation of most rural areas on this digital transition.
Education is intended to empower children but these hurdles impacted their right to an equitable, inclusive education. There are institutions that responded and chose to be part of the solution, recognized the call for digital transformation in education. They saw beyond the barriers and turned these into opportunities for new standards in providing digital and social learning lessons.
