It has been a year since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the shores of the Philippines. Since then, the global pandemic has taken the lives not only of citizens in the Philippines but also all over the world. Due to its unclear source, rapid transmission, and fatal effects to humans, many are hoping to find a cure or immunization to the virus. Research and development for vaccines take 10-15 years however due to the imminent concern over COVID, pharmaceutical companies and health facilities such as Pfizer and BioNTech, Moderna, Sinovac, AztraZeneca and others began with their respective researches and clinical trials by mid-2020. Before the year 2020 ended, the various companies presented the results of their research, creating various types of vaccines that will soon be available in the market.
The speedy production of COVID-19 vaccines is truly a medical breakthrough and many are anticipating to receive their own dose to further protect themselves from the virus. As a result, the public is gathering data on the process of acquisition of the vaccine in the Philippines and other relevant information that will affect their welfare.
For the month of February, AmCham's Healthcare and Wellness (HCW) Committee is hosting a webinar 2021 Update on COVID-19 Vaccines for the Private Sector on February 16, 2021, at 2:00-3:30 PM via Zoom Meetings. The webinar aims to discuss and give an understanding on the on-going discussions for the procurement and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in the Philippines.
