The Department of Labor and Employment D.O. 198 was signed into law by President Duterte is now in effect. This is an act strengthening the compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and providing penalties for violations, thereof. There are total of 35 sections from which the more prominent ones are sections 16 that discusses the safety and health trainings that workers need and 25 that discusses the penalties of non-compliance.
In line with this, the AmCham Center for Training and Development in partnership with Asprec-Manalo OSH Co. will be running a "Mandatory Eight-hour Safety and Health (MESH) Training for Safety Officers (SO1)" as required by the Department of Labor Employment.
By the end of the whole-day session, the participants will be able to
- List the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Standards;
- Tell the factors that lead to accidents and related illnesses;
- Familiarize with the duties and responsibilities of employers and employees in compliance with the standards;
- Relate strategies, safety equipment and devices in correcting hazards in the workplace
