Event Details
USAID's Opportunity 2.0 is a five-year PhP1.9 billion ($37.5 million) program that will strengthen national and local capability to provide out-of-school youth (OSYs) with quality education and learning experiences, inspiring life-long-learning and leading to improved education, livelihood, or employment.
Working with the Department of Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Opportunity 2.0 will support curriculum development, professional development of teachers and trainers, policy research, and development or teaching and learning materials.
The program will also bring together local government units, the business community, universities, civil society, other government agencies and the youth themselves under the banner of the Youth Development Alliance (YDAs).
We are working to engage the private sector so that they understand the potential of OSYs and to collaborate in a number of ways, including but not only:
- Contribution to curriculum and learning
- Help us better understand what the business community needs in terms of skills in each of our sites
- Help us bring youth to the workplace to support our Work-Base Learning curriculum
- Participate in YDAs
- Mentoring and guidance
This month, AmCham's Education Committee will highlight Opportunity 2.0. The presentation will dive into more detail about how the private sector can work with us to better equip OSY for employment and our team will be happy to hear comments and input as to how we can work together more closely.
