DOLE Updates: Guidelines on the Administration of COVID-19 Vaccines in the Workplace

AmCham's Human Capital and Resources (HCR) committee is hosting a webinar about DOLE Updates: Guidelines on the Administration of COVID-19 Vaccines in the Workplace on March 26, 2021, at 2:00-3:30 PM, via Zoom Meeting. Dr. Ma. Teresita Cucueco will discuss the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) response to labor-related issues during the pandemic, specifically the Labor Advisory 03-21 - Guidelines on the Administration of COVID-19 Vaccines in the Workplace, plus other related topics.

After a year of living with COVID-19, the longstanding debate on prioritizing lives or livelihoods now presents a clearer answer: both have to be saved. Experts and government leaders alike suggest that the Philippine economy can no longer bear a hard lockdown that would result in more job losses and business downsizing/closures. As a result, efforts to reopen the economy are underway for the Philippines to recover from the ill effects of the ongoing pandemic.

Dr. Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, CESO III

Assistant Secretary and Concurrent Director of Bureau of Working Conditions, Department of Labor and Employment

Dr. Tess Cucueco is currently the Director for the Bureau of Working Conditions in the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). She was also the former Executive Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Center-Department of Labor and Employment (OSHC-DOLE) from October 2010 to January 2017. Her areas of expertise include policy and program development, and implementation on matters concerning working conditions, safety, and health. In line with this, she contributed to the drafting of Republic Act 11058, an Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations. She also spearheaded the revision of the Philippines Occupational Safety and Health Standards (for release in 2019), and assisted in capacity building of labor inspectors among others.

Prior to appointment as Executive Director, Dr. Cucueco worked with the OSHC in various capacities i.e. Occupational Health Officer from September 1988 to December 1989; Senior Occupational Health Officer from December 1989 to September 1998; Division Chief, Health Control Division from September 1998 to April 7, 2009 and Deputy Executive Director in April 7, 2009. She graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman and holds a BS Biology Degree, Post Graduate academic units in Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, a Masters Degree in Occupational Health (MOH) from University of the Philippines College of Public Health, and a Doctor of Medicine from De La Salle-EAC College of Medicine.
