Dr. Jose Rhoel C. de Leon is a General and Cancer Surgeon, with a special interest in Breast Cancer Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Surgery, a fellow of the Surgical Oncology Society of the Philippines, the Philippine Society of General Surgery, and the Philippine College of Surgeons.
A consistent scholar and honor student, he got his medical degree from the Far Eastern University- Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, and his General Surgery from the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.
Having that desire to pursue further study in Surgical Oncology, he went to the United States, at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, working mostly on the Breast Service, with the best Cancer Surgeons.
He is presently in active practice as an attending surgical oncologist at the Cagayan de Oro Medical Center, the Capitol University Medical City Foundation, Inc., and the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, where he also heads the Breast Cancer Clinic.
Together with Dr. Allan Melicor, a pioneer surgeon in Bukidnon and a Regent of the Philippine College of Surgeons, they founded the Bukidnon Surgical Association in 1998, to foster camaraderie and promote continuing surgical education amongst surgeons in Bukidnon. He is also active with the Northern Mindanao chapters of the PCS and the PSGS
He is a member of the committee on Cancer of the Phil. College of Surgeons, and is an active lecturer and resource speaker on topics on cancer and the Breast all over the Philippines.
