AmCham's Financial Services, Taxes, and Tariffs Committee together with Grab is hosting a webinar entitled, "Digital Innovation: Advancing Financial Inclusion for MSMEs", to be held on August 30, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the AmCham Robert Sears Hall and Zoom.


This session will serve as a platform for raising awareness of regulators, policymakers, small businesses, and the general public on how digital financial services can support the local MSMEs' business growth and the overall development of a post-COVID economy.

    Deputy Governor at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas

    Deputy Governor Bernadette Fatima T. Romulo-Puyat (born May 14, 1969), currently oversee the Program Management Office of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. She is formerly the Secretary of the Department of Tourism and was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2018. She attended the University of the Philippines and pursued an undergraduate and a Masters's degree in Economics.

    Secretary Romulo-Puyat was a former lecturer at the UP School of Economics (1994-2006). She also served as an Economic Consultant at the Housing and Urban Development Coordination Council (HUDCC) (2001-2002) and the Presidential Management Staff (2005-2006) and was Deputy Cabinet Secretary at the Office of the President in 2006.

    Erwin has been with Grab since September 2019, leading the lending business under Grab Financial Services Philippines, an SEC-licensed financing company. He spearheads the loan programs offered to the Grab ecosystem in the country, particularly to Grab’s driver-partners, merchant-partners, and passenger-users, where he is able to leverage his experience with various financial institutions to drive Lending’s growth towards achieving Grab’s mission to drive Southeast Asia forward by creating economic empowerment for everyday entrepreneurs.

    Prior to joining Grab, Erwin had an extensive 18-year experience in banking and financial services doing business development, product management, sales and relationship management, and marketing, specializing in consumer / SME lending, retail deposits, card products, and remittances, for various local and multinational financial institutions such as American Express Bank Philippines, Citibank NA, Bank of Commerce, Philippine Bank of Communications, Philippine National Bank, and Golden Legacy Financing Corporation.

    Erwin graduated from Ateneo De Manila University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management.

    Rose Ferrer is currently a consultant. She is the former Senior Manager of the Business Strategy Sector of Nomura Research Institute - Manila Branch. She has been with the company for 15 years and has participated in over 300 national and cross-regional projects, focusing on financial services.

    She has worked with the ASEAN Secretariat in developing the Bond Markets in emerging ASEAN. Her work within the region has also covered policy evaluation, development studies, project management, and market and industry research on consumer finance, retail payment, financial services, and fintech development. Currently, she focused on digital transformation projects for business development.

    Rose is a graduate of De La Salle University in Manila with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, and Management of Financial Institutions. She also attended the Executive Education program of Columbia Business School in New York.

    Martha Aguila Borja joins Grab as the new Country Head of Grab Financial Group for the Philippines. In this role, Martha is the most senior GFG leader in the Philippines, overseeing the Payments, Lending, and Insurance businesses of Grab. Martha is a seasoned banker with 20+ years of experience. Prior to joining Grab, she spent 14 years in Citibank’s Consumer Business, most recently as the Senior Vice President for Credit Payment Products. She shifted careers in 2018 and was the Country Manager for a global fintech company, Wirecard e-Money Philippines, Inc., which was later acquired by Nomupay Ltd.
