The AmCham Mindanao Chapter will be hosting a Briefing on Higher Education Institutions (HEI) Educational Landscape of the Philippines and Davao Region on August 25, 2022 [Thursday], from 10:00-11:30 A.M. via Zoom video conference.


The session will tackle the CHED and its mandate; the Commissioners and Region XI officials; the Total number of PHEI, SUC, and LUC in the PH supervised by CHED; the number of total college students in PHEI, SUC, and LUC nationwide; Region XI info on the total number of HEIs, PHEI, SUC, and LUC in Region XI, and the total number of students of PHEI, SUC, and LUC in Region XI; Information on the HEIs in the region and its student population (SY 2021-22 data would suffice); Performance of HEIs in CHED Regional Office XI in the board examinations; Performance of HEIs in research and extension; Why Region XI is the education center of Mindanao; and the future directions of the CHED, face to face and on-line learning.

    Supervising Education Program Specialist and OIC-Chief Administrative Officer at Commission on Higher Education, Region XI

    Christopher Pio O. Pulido was born and raised in Davao City. He completed his Baccalaureate and Graduate degrees of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Master of Arts in Economics, and Doctor of Public Administration at the Ateneo de Davao University.

    After college, he worked as a Stock Market Trader (Certified Securities Representative) at F. Yap Securities. He passed the Securities Representative Certification Exam conducted by the Capital Markets Development Project, a joint undertaking of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines-FINEX and US Agency for International Development-USAID, as deputized by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1998.

    After that, he joined his alma mater Ateneo de Davao University in 1999 to be one of its Instructors in Finance and Economics at the School of Business and Governance and School of Arts and Sciences for the Undergraduate and Graduate School.

    In 2003, he joined public service with the Commission on Higher Education as the Education Supervisor in charge of Business and Management Education programs to enhance the Quality, Responsiveness, and Relevance of Higher Education programs. He is also serving a vital role in improving the Region’s stakeholders' Access and Equity to Higher Education by being the agency’s Tuition and Other School Fees Supervisor In-Charge and former Regional Coordinator for Scholarships and Student Grant-in-Aid programs. In 2020, Dr. Pulido assumed the Supervising Education Program Specialist or Assistant Chief position of the Technical Division. Apart from this, since 2021, he is also serving as the Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer.

    He is married to Heidy, who is also in government service.
    He is a bonafide member of the prestigious Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration (EROPA), an organization with Consultative Status (Category II) with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Secretariat General.
    Christopher Pulido is also the Advisor-Moderator of the Regional Council of Deans in Business Education and Governance XI, and President of the Commission on Higher Education Employees Association – Region XI.
