AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Event Details

Today, we are experiencing a serious contraction in our economic growth. With the country's gross domestic product shrinks to 16.5%, the sharpest drop ever on record, we are seeing increases in prices, decrease in incomes and remittances, and significant job losses, and with more people at risk of slipping into poverty due to the effects of the pandemic situation.

This scenario requires our government robust recovery plans and actions to address the crisis and assist in building back the economy, especially those under fragile and crisis-affected settings in our country. But this is not enough. The private sectors' intervention and proactive support are needed to further mitigate the existing health crisis and reclaim the economy amid the pandemic. Now more than ever, our country needs the collaborative effort of both the Public and Private Sectors to respond and leverage their resources to lead our economy towards the path to recovery. This collective effort is essential to help our country recover from this pandemic and move forward with more resilience and security to future shocks and crises.

Join us on the 16th of September at 10:00am via Zoom for our 6th Virtual General Membership Meeting entitled, "Boosting the Socioeconomic Resilience against COVID-19: Updates on the Public and Private Sector's Partnership Efforts to Economic Recovery" with our guest speaker, Mr. Guillermo "Bill" Luz, Chief Resilience Officer of Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation. He will share with us the strengthened partnership efforts of the Public and Private Sector in the battle against COVID-19, especially PDRF's active involvement in boosting the economic recovery of the country.

Don't miss this event. Join us as we learn and explore more opportunities on how we can respond and leverage our resources, expertise, and capacities to help our country and economy recover and bounce back better together.
