The Education and Intellectual Property Rights Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines will be conducting a webinar entitled "Professionalizing Technology Transfer in the Philippines" on March 30, 2023, 10 AM - 12 NN, via Zoom.


The chamber invited representatives from DLSU Intellectual Property Office and Alliance of Tech Transfer Professionals of the Philippines to discuss the following (1) Current State of Technology Transfer; (2) Metrics and Impact of Academic Technology Transfer; and (3) Industry Perspectives on Professionalizing Technology Transfer.

    President & Director of DLSU Intellectual Property Office / Alliance of Tech Transfer Professionals of the Philippines

    Atty. Christopher E. Cruz received his undergraduate degree (in Philosophy) from De La Salle University (DLSU), his graduate degree in law from San Beda University, and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from De La Salle University. Between 1996 to 2002, he served as a Court Attorney of the Court of Appeals of the Philippines. Since 1991 he has taught at De La Salle University, where he is now a full professor of Philosophy and Intellectual Property Law. In 2020, he became the project leader of CAPACITA, a government-funded project for capacitating researchers and technology-transfer professionals in biomedical engineering and health technologies.

    He is currently the University Legal Counsel, Director of the DLSU Intellectual Property Office, and Manager of the DLSU Innovation and Technology Office. He is one of the founders and is now President of the Alliance and Techtransfer Professionals of the Philippines (AToP), a non-stock and non-profit professional organization that aims to promote technology transfer in the Philippines.

    Vice President at Alliance of Tech Transfer Professionals of the Philippines

    Ms. Agnes May Bantigue-Bonafe is an intellectual property and technology transfer professional with a decade of experience in the field. She is a holder of a BS Business Economics degree and an MBA from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and was also a scholar of the World IP Organization and the University of Turin, Italy, where she obtained her degree in Master of Laws in Intellectual Property.

    Agnes started her technology transfer career in the University of the Philippines in 2012 when she joined the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development as a Technology Transfer Officer, where she was primarily responsible for ensuring IP protection, utilization and commercialization of faculty and researchers’ outputs. She served as Chief of the Space Business Development Division of PhilSA in 2021, prior to moving to Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada as Industry Liaison Specialist, facilitating industry partnerships and technology transfer.
