Event Details
Even before the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the financial status of many families in the Philippines continues to become one of the greatest predicaments that add to the growing education issues in the country. In addition, due to unfair access to quality education, more children, youth, and adults are being left behind.
Furthermore, COVID-19 brought greater challenges to the education sector of the Philippines. With the sudden events brought by the health crisis, distance learning modes via the internet or TV broadcasts were ordered. Hence, the new learning pathways rely on students and teachers having access to the internet. Sadly, millions of Filipinos don't have access to computers and other digital devices at home to be able to learn virtually.
Definitely, education is a basic human right and must be available to everyone. This webinar brought by the Education Committee of AmCham Philippines will be discussing the government's role, specifically the Department of Education (DepEd) in the post-pandemic recovery of the education sector in the Philippines, as well as their future plans and challenges they are facing.
