AmCham Philippines' ICT Committee invites you to join the free webinar about Accelerating Internet Connectivity for the Philippines: DICT Updates on March 23, 2021, from2:00 to 3:30 pm via Zoom. Antonio Padre, Director of the Dept. of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), will give the updates; and Peter Maquera, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Group of Globe Telecom will be the reactor.

The event will talk about key areas of interest such as the National Broadband Network (NBN), open-access connectivity, government data centers, the Facebook subsea cable, and the implementation of cybersecurity systems. The DICT 2021 strategy on digital connectivity, smart cities and towns, digital learning management services, modernization of national government services through digital platforms, shall also be discussed.

Antonio Padre finished his Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering at Saint Louis University in 1988 and completed his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1999 at the International Academy of Management and Economics. He also finished his Graduate Certificate Course on Corruption Prevention at the Development Academy of the Philippines.

He obtained his licenses as an Electronics and Communications Engineer in 1989 and Professional Electronics Engineer accreditation in 1999.

His career in the Department of Information and Communications Technology began when he was employed as a Temporary Engineer I at its former name, Telecommunications Office in 1990. Antonio was appointed with then the Information and Communications Technology Office under the department of Science and Technology in March 2015 as a Director I.

He also worked with the Communications Program Management Office, which implements various government digital telephone infrastructure from Regions I to 13, CAR and CARAGA as an Engineer II from 1994 to 1999 and OIC Project Director from 2008 to present.

Antonio was a resource person on the following projects, namely, the Philippines’ DRRM Best practices at the Governors’ Meeting at the Asian Development Bank, DICT’s Flagship Projects at the Transformation Summit 2016 and 2017, Philippine Government’s Initiative on Cybersecurity and Data Privacy (Worldtech’s 1st Asian Cybersecurity Conference at the Cebu Convention Center and ICT Summit hosted by Eastern Visayas Federation on IT).

Peter Maquera is the Senior Vice President for the Enterprise Group at Globe Telecom Inc., providing ICT services to the top corporations and international companies doing business in the Philippines. He has significant experience in building and transforming companies, from early-stage development to market leadership. Prior to joining Globe, Peter was Deputy CEO and Director of LiveIt Investments Ltd., Ayala Corporation’s holding company for its investments in Business Process Outsourcing. He served as a director on the boards of LiveIt’s portfolio companies: Stream (voice BPO), Integreon (knowledge), and IQBackoffice (finance, accounting, and HR). Peter continues to serve as a director of Affinity Express (marketing and advertising).

Before LiveIt, Peter was CEO of SPI Technologies, a highly awarded industry leader in the publishing and healthcare markets. He has also held executive positions in real estate, construction, and financial services in the US, Australia, and Indonesia.

Peter enjoys traveling and playing golf. He believes in being dedicated and committed to work and achieving goals and success by always giving your all. He influences his people to have this kind of mindset and spreads positivity wherever he is.

Peter completed his studies in the US with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
