Gregory O'Connor is the Senior Commercial Officer for the Philippines based in Manila, Philippines. Prior to the Philippines, Mr. O'Connor was the Regional Senior Commercial Officer for Southeast Europe based in Bucharest, Romania covering Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Croatia.
Mr. O'Connor served as Principal Commercial Officer for North India from 2010-2014 at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. From 2005-2010, Mr. O'Connor served as Senior Commercial Officer in Prague, where he oversaw commercial relations with the Czech Republic. Prior to Prague, Mr. O'Connor was Commercial Attachรฉ at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul (2001-2004) and Senior International Trade Specialist at the Minneapolis Export Assistance Center (1998-2000).
Prior to joining the Commercial Service, Mr. O'Connor served in a variety of positions at the International Trade Administration headquarters in Washington, D.C., including Program Manager, Market Development Cooperator Program (1994-1998), Desk Officer, Office of European Community Affairs (1988-1993) and Germany Desk Officer, Office of Western Europe (1986-1988). Mr. O'Connor served as a Presidential Management Intern (PMI) from 1986-1988 and is the recipient of the Department of Commerce's Silver Medal and Lawrence M. Payne Memorial Awards.
Before joining the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mr. O'Connor served as an U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in both Korea (1980-1981) and Nepal (1981-1983). Mr. O'Connor holds a B.A. degree in International Affairs from George Washington University and a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Greg is married to Jean McGervey of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and they have three children.
