    “Chris” is the designated Assistant Secretary for Regional Monitoring Services (RMS). He has also been leading the National Farm Tourism Program of the Department of Tourism since 2020.

    Chris rose from the ranks and has over 23 years of government service starting as a Project Evaluation and Planning Officer and later as Program Director at the Department of Agriculture. In 2015, he supervised the Field Programs Operational Planning Division and the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Operations Center of the Department (2015-2019). He also helped promote agriculture and food products in the local and international markets as the OIC-Director for Agribusiness and Marketing (2018), and he was the overall coordinator of DA’s National Organic Agriculture Program (2016-2019).

    In 2020, he started his journey in the Department of Tourism as the Regional Director of MIMAROPA until 2021. He provided overall supervision and direction of the regional office with regard to the implementation of laws, policies, plans, programs, rules and regulations of the Department, particularly, those relating to compliance, accreditation, standards development, tourism development planning, and product and market development.

    From November 2021 to July 2022, he was designated as OIC Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation, Coordination, and Resource Generation. In his capacity as OIC Undersecretary, he oversaw the tourism operations and activities of the Office of Tourism Standards and Regulation, Office of the Industry and Manpower Development, and the Regional Offices of the Department and supervised the rules and regulations governing the operation and activities of all tourism enterprises and provides technical assistance to LGUs in destination development, and standards and regulatory enforcement.
    Now, designated as the Assistant Secretary for RMS, his office is primarily in charge of monitoring, and supervising the Regional Offices’ administrative requirements and activities. Furthermore, his office provides liaison and coordination work for the regional offices with the DOT Central Office, other government agencies, and private sectors at the national level.

    Chris holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from Erasmus University-Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering major in Land and Water Resources from the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

    He is a licensed agricultural engineer and is appointed by then President Rodrigo Duterte as a Career Executive Service Officer (CESO) II after completion of the Leadership and Management Program of the CES Board.

    During his free time, he loves listening to music, traveling, exploring nature, visiting cultural destinations, and trying out different cuisines. Born and raised in Biñan, Laguna, he now lives in Quezon City.
