The Trade and Investment Committee (TI) of the Chamber has organized a session on the discussion of "ASEAN-5 and FDI Competition: Where is the Philippines at?" on May 24 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM with Dr. Hazel Parcon-Santos, Senior Researcher at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).


With the country's fast growth trajectory among the ASEAN-5 in 2022, an in-depth discussion of where the Philippines is positioned and heading towards shall be tackled in the session. Trends and updates on matters of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) alongside probable competition and challenges for the country shall also be unveiled.

    Dr. Hazel Parcon-Santos

    Senior Researcher at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)

    Hazel C. Parcon-Santos is currently a Senior Researcher at the newly created Research Academy of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). She has been with the BSP for 10 years now. Prior to joining the Research Academy, she was part of the Center for Monetary and Financial Policy of the BSP. In 2018, she was detailed as a Visiting Research Economist at the Bank for International Settlements - Asian Office in Hong Kong. Prior to joining the BSP, she had a one-year stint as an Associate Professor at the De La Salle University. She was also a researcher and lecturer at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she obtained her Ph.D. in Economics. Hazel obtained her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the School of Economics at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Her research interests include economics of international capital flows and financial crises, foreign direct investments, exchange rates, macro-financial linkages, and labor market effects of economic integration.
