With the country's tropical weather, beautiful scenery, rich history, diverse culture and hospitable people, the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AMCHAM) has always believed in the potential of the Philippines as a top tourism and travel destination.
The Philippines as an archipelago, has the elements that makes a perfect cruise destination. Today, as cruise tourism is slowly becoming the next big thing in the local tourism landscape, the public and private sectors have to learn how to work hand-in-hand to be able maximize all the opportunities the said industry can bring. In Subic alone, cruise tourism has generated over PhP130 million in revenues in 2018 with 19 cruise ship arrivals. As of January this year, more than 20 ships have put in their reservation to dock at Subic Bay.
In line with the Chamber's Tourism and Hospitality Committee's overall theme for 2019 of "Enhancing Philippine Travel and Tourism Competitiveness through Public and Private Sector Cooperation" is currently organizing a committee event with a title"Boosting the Philippine Tourism Industry through Cruise Tourism".
The committee briefing will provide a platform for government, industry leaders, business groups and other stakeholders, to discuss industry issues and challenges, as well as share solutions and best practices that will lead to effective policies, strategies and programs. The event also aims to build partnerships among key stakeholders in developing and implementing long-term solutions.
