The Arangkada Philippines Project (TAPP), in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress's Water Alliance (PBSP-Water Alliance), is hosting a briefing on the contents of a draft Executive Order (EO) on Water, a much-needed reform which intends to greatly improve the management of water resources and governance of the Philippine water sector on February 14, 2019 (Thursday) from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the AmCham Hall.
We are honored to host as the briefer Ms. Elisea "Bebet" G. Gozun, who led the drafting of the EO. Ms. Gozun is a former Presidential Assistant II for Climate Change and former Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. In 2007, she was recognized by the United Nations Environment Programme as the Champion of the Earth for Asia and the Pacific.
On September 14, 2018, TAPP released Policy Brief No. 7 "Water" at the Seventh Arangkada Philippines Anniversary Forum.
The Water policy brief broadens discussion to a strategic level to appreciate the interconnectedness of the water sector and the various uses of water. TAPP enlisted the expertise of water industry experts Dondi Alikpala, former chairman of the Metropolitan Water Sewerage System and former executive director of the National Water Resources Board, and Chris Ilagan, former government relations officer of Manila Water to write on the topic based on the January 18 roundtable discussion, industry experience, and independent research.
The following recommendations were set forward in the Water policy brief:
A. Improving the Governance and Management of Water Resources
B. Improving Water Quality and Coverage
C. Expanding Wastewater Treatment Coverage
