Event Details

The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) committee of the Chamber is holding "Building the Future Now: COMELEC Updates on the 2022 Philippine Elections" on the 28th of September from 1:00 - 2:30 PM with COMELEC Spokesperson, Director James Jimenez.

As we draw closer and prepare for the elections, numerous queries and insights are being raised and waiting to be addressed. It is acknowledged that the system which is to be applied in the next elections is novel to the voters and government officials but most importantly to the administering body, the Commission on Elections. Concerns on health safety protocol, cybersecurity, impartiality, and electoral issues among others, coupled with the new planned voting system which has never been tested under a very challenging COVID-19 landscape.

Dir. James Jimenez helms the education and information department and is also the Commission on Elections’ official talking head.

Spanning almost two decades, his COMELEC career is best seen in the light of his continuing efforts to expand the election body’s digital media footprint —the verified Facebook and Twitter accounts of the Commission are early testaments to this. The voter care operations, his brainchild launched in 2016, is scaling up its social media engagement in preparation for the 2022 polls. External partnerships for digital projects, such as the magparehistroka.com website, are utilized and maximized at no cost to the Commission.
