The Sustainability Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, in partnership with Unilever Philippines and Mondelez Philippines will be conducting an event entitled "Carbon Emissions Reduction: What Can We Do?" on May 18, 12 NN - 2:30 PM at the Robert Sears Hall of AmCham office.


This event will be discussing the following topics: (1) Priorities of CCC for 2023-2027; (2) Programs and Projects Undertaken to Reduce Carbon Emissions; (3) Climate Action: Purpose and Progress; (4) Efforts of Private Companies on Carbon Emissions Reduction; (5) Efforts of SMEs on Carbon Emissions Reduction; and (6) Building a Decarbonization Strategy for your Business to assess the status and possible solutions regarding carbon emissions reduction.

    Vice Chairperson and Executive Director of Climate Change Commission

    Secretary Borje was appointed Commissioner and Vice Chair of the Philippines’ Climate Change Commission on 08 March 2022 for a term of six (6) years.

    A career diplomat in the Philippine Foreign Service, Mr. Borje brings to the Climate Change Commission nearly two (2) decades of experience in multilateral and bilateral diplomacy and negotiations in climate change and sustainable development and the nexus with disaster preparedness and resiliency, migration, and international security.

    He was Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs and advised the Office of the President on key multilateral and bilateral issues. Mr. Borje was the Office of the President’s focal point in the development, articulation, coordination and implementation of the Philippines’ independent foreign policy for nearly six (6) years, with focus on Philippine strategic interests in climate change and sustainable development agenda, disaster risk reduction and resilience, migrant workers’ right, and regional and international security.

    Mr. Borje has served as President Duterte’s Special Envoy to Japan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, to advance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including climate change and disaster resilience.

    Prior to his appointment to the Office of the President, Mr. Borje was Director for the Oceans Governance Division of the Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office and then Director for South and Central Asia at the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

    Mr. Borje’s foreign assignments include the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the United Nations in New York.

He is concurrently the Executive Director of the Net Zero Carbon Alliance, the country’s first private sector-led initiative towards carbon neutrality.

    EDC maintains a broad portfolio of CSR programs that cover education, environment, and community development. Allan is also the current Chairman of the Mount Apo Foundation, Inc. (MAFI) and Keitech Educational Foundation, Inc. (KEFI), both CSR foundations of EDC.

    Prior to EDC, he worked with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Philippines for 20 years where he served in various leadership positions.

    On the academic front, Mr. Laureto holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Cum Laude) from Central Mindanao University, Philippines, and has completed coursework for a Masters in Environment and Natural Resources Management. He is an alumnus of the Bridging Leaders’ Initiative for Climate Resilience program at the Asian Institute of Management.

    In addition, Mr. Laureto is a certified trainer for both the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards from the Global Reporting Initiative and the Business Ecosystems Training from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. He also serves as a member of the Philippine Sustainability Reporting Committee under the Philippine Financial and Sustainability Reporting Standards Council (FSRSC).
