Summary:

Numerous reports of economic crime, particularly those targeting people with electronic banking or payment applications, have multiplied as people cope with the challenges of banking and making payments during the pandemic. In cooperation with AmCham Philippines, PwC will leverage its Philippine Report on Global Economic Crime and provide a point of view on the unique challenges in countering economic crime during times like these.

Roberto C. Bassig is the Lead Consulting Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting Services Philippines Co. Ltd., a member firm of the PwC network. A partner since 2017, he has more than 20 years of professional experience in Technology and Risk Consulting.

His areas of expertise and focus include helping organizations modernize and embrace digital shift and transformation, giving advice on the right technology assets and models to consider and implement, redesigning enterprise processes in preparation for technology transformation, software licensing strategy and management, technology governance and risk management, and cybersecurity and forensic services.

He started his career in PwC by performing IT audits ranging from process improvement reviews, information security and compliance readiness, IT governance, to enterprise resource planning post-implementation and optimizations. Robbie left the firm for some time to better understand the corporate world and entered one of the largest domestic ICT organizations as Chief Audit Executive. He rejoined the firm in 2012.

Bassig holds the following international qualifications: Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls. He has attended various leadership and technical programs locally and abroad and has completed the Management Development Program of the Asian Institute of Management. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and maintains memberships with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association and the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Alvin Dave M. Pusing has been a Risk Consulting Director of PwC’s Southeast Asia Consulting practice since 2019. He is the Philippines’ Risk & Regulatory Consulting leader with over 15 years of professional and industry experience. He manages projects on corporate governance, enterprise risk management, regulatory/compliance, digital risk and technology, risk culture, data governance and financial services.

Prior to re-joining the firm in 2013, Alvin was a university lecturer, lead technology risk/information security manager for a universal bank’s Philippines and overseas operations, and risk & assurance manager for a multinational bank’s global shared services.

He chairs the Education and Research of the Good Governance Advocates and Practitioners of the Philippines (GGAPP). He was an officer at the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) Philippines chapter, and FinTech Advisory Board Member of the Center for Financial Professionals. He also conducts training for clients and industry associations, and has published several articles on enterprise risk management (ERM) and data governance.

Pusing holds a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from De La Salle University-Manila. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), PECB Certified ISO 31000 Risk Manager, and holds a Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) v2 Accreditation. He also passed the examinations for Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) and Certified Payment Card Industry Security Implementer (CPISI).
