Event Details
In the context of the rapid growth of the digital economy and increasing international trade of data, the Philippines has strengthened its privacy and security protections. The Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations promulgated in August 24, 2016, established the ground rules on how an individual and businesses can protect one's personal information.
The DPA has long been established but not all companies are aware of it yet. For instance, the law requires a company to appoint a Data Privacy Officer who will be accountable for ensuring compliance with the appropriate data protection laws and regulations. In light with this information, AmCham would like to play an active role in ensuring all companies are aware and are compliant with the said measures.
