AmCham Mindanao

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Event Details

The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc. - Mindanao Chapter will host an Agribusiness Committee Meeting on October 22, 2021 [Friday], at 10:00-11:30 AM via Zoom.

According to the Philippine Coconut Industry (PCA) Board, Davao remains to be the top coconut producing region in the country with 11 of the 13 preferred coconut varieties present. Mindanao produces 68 percent of the entire Philippines' yearly production. But since the entire coconut industry needs additional coconut trees to be planted to offset the loss from the cocolisap infestation and the previous typhoons, the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) requested the support of the coconut research center and the coconut plantation project.

Juvy Alayon

Acting Regional Manager III at Philippine Coconut Authority

Juvy Tacloro Alayon was born on March 7, 1966 in Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City but she is a resident of Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.

She finished her Elementary at Banaybanay Central Elementary School and her Secondary Education at Banaybanay Municipal High School. Studied BS Agriculture, major in Agronomy at the Ateneo de Davao University and Master of Public Management at Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City on March 2003 as Department of Agriculture MPM Scholar.

Ms. Alayon was awarded as Provincial Outstanding Coconut Development Officer of Davao Oriental for 1991 & 1998 and Regional Outstanding Coconut Development Officer/BAHI Awardee (Region Xl) for 1999.

She has worked at the Ministry of Human Settlements as Settlements Aide from 1985-1987 in Surigao del Sur, Region Xl. She joined Philippine Coconut Authority in 1987 and on August 24, 2020, she was designated as Acting Regional Manager III.
