On February 20, President Duterte signed into law Republic Act 11232 which revised the 38-year old Corporation Code of the Philippines. The landmark legislation will remove the barriers hindering the entry of both small and large enterprises in the market, as well as strengthening, simplifying and modernizing corporate governance standards for a better business environment. This comes at a favorable time in the midst of the government's campaign towards promotion of ease of doing business in the country. The changes brought about by the revisions in the Code are expected to complement the Ease of Doing Business Act passed in 2018 and the newly issued Foreign Investments Negative List.
