AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Summary:

Today Filipinos are not only facing the threat of COVID-19 but many other health issues surrounding the pandemic. Some are also experiencing mental and emotional strain from being isolated from the community. With the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) still in place, many are facing difficulties in going to their regular checkups, scheduling consultations, and accessing prescriptions or medicine among others. Others are also in need to find new ways to achieve wellness during these stressful times. Thanks to the innovation of some traditional services, telehealth has been a good alternative in connecting patients to doctors.

Because health and wellness affects one's outlook and productivity, ensuring the mental and physical health of your family, your employees, and yourself should remain an utmost priority. For the month of May, AmCham's Healthcare and Wellness Committee is hosting a webinar entitled Doctor is ONLINE: Discussion on Telehealth and its Impact on Life and Business on June 2, 2020, 2:00 PM via Zoom Webinar. The meeting aims to bring together the public and private sector and discuss the crucial role of telehealth, scaling telehealth solutions, and making telehealth more accessible in the Philippines, especially during times of health crisis such as COVID-19.

The webinar will also touch upon the following points:

  • The current landscape and/or new trends on the health-seeking behavior among Filipinos since COVID
  • The current scope or coverage of telehealth services in the Philippines
  • Use of telehealth to cope and access medical assistance during COVID
  • The future of telehealth
  • Opportunities for private sector to support the public sector in promoting, improving, and providing telehealth services in the Philippines
