Fighting Online Fraud: SIM Registration Law (R.A.11934)

Event Details

Amcham Visayas Chapter will be hosting a Committee Meeting: "Fighting Online Fraud" on February 16, 2023 from 3 pm - 5 pm, at Bai Hotel Cebu. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the SIM Registration Law (RA11934) which recently took effect in December 2022.

We have invited the National Telecommunications Commission to speak to us about the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the said law. The law aims to make end users accountable for their usage of mobile communications and any attempt to do mobile phone-aided crimes or assume multiple identities for fraudulent activities.

We will also hear from Globe Telecom who were part of the technical group that crafted the IRR. They will discuss the role of TelCos in the successful implementation of RA11934; and share some information about Globe's SIM registration platform and procedures.

Since seats are limited, pre-registration is required for all Attendees.
