AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Focusing on one of the greatest contributors to the Philippine economy, tourism has imprinted its mark of advancing the country beyond economic advantages. The travel and tourism industry features the country's beauty and vibrancy that captivates businesses and assets. The Philippines being an archipelago-- with its 7,641 islands, it precipitates a diverse leisure options not only to tourists but to the Filipino people as well. It is evident that the country has a competitive advantage for the tourism experience that it offers to the world, especially that it is known for its hospitable citizens.

However, not only does the Philippines possess such leverage but do other states. It is an undeniable fact that the travel and tourism sector has been massively affected by the COVID-19 due to health risks and mobility restrictions. Great quantities of flights have been cancelled, cabin crews have been laid off, and other operations have been temporarily halted and some have even been ceased.

The world has recognized and admired us Filipinos for our resilience. The COVID-19 pandemic is still existent yet continues to torment each and every one of us up to this day. This, however, does not stop us from moving forward-- in fact, urges us to strive harder. The flight to recovery is a long and difficult road course, but with collective and collaborative efforts, we are to succeed. Day by day, we continue to adapt with the situation and slowly take the road towards recovery-- during these trying times, we must celebrate these progress and small victories.
