COURSE OVERVIEW
This 2-day Project Management Workshop is designed to give managers and key staff a practical approach and systematic process for managing projects effectively and efficiently to achieve optimum business results. This approach combines technical and people skills integral to effective project management. These project management skills will enable project managers and other professionals to manage projects on time, on budget, and with the desired results. It also emphasizes practical applications to projects that managers and key employees are responsible for on the job.
During the training, coached applications will help the participants address the actual projects they do at work. The process has been so effective in many organizations and has become the basis of many operational improvement programs.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify the key activities in the project life cycle;
- Understand the value of the elements of project management;
- Develop project's procedures of definition, planning, and implementation as well as the guidance of the project team's operations towards achieving all the agreed-upon goals within the set scope, time, quality, and budget standards;
- Improve project management practices within the organization through best practices;
- Learn the practical guidelines, tools, and techniques and refine our project management skills;
- Adopt and apply the project management process to our work-related projects;
- Understand the factors that influence project management success; and,
- Improve our people and leadership skills in projects.
In this course, your organization will be able to:
- Have a common approach and language for defining, planning and implementing projects;
- Acquire methods to use a systematic process that can be integrated into the project management process of your organization;
- Use a format for documenting project planning and implementation activities; and,
- Have an opportunity to begin using the project management tools and steps to their real-world projects.
In this course, your participants will be able to:
- Develop a project statement that focuses on the project goal;
- Define project objectives as criteria against which success will be measured;
- Create a work breakdown structure (WBS) to organize the major project tasks and accomplishments;
- Identify the resources needed with a possible initial cost estimate based on actual activities;
- Assign responsibilities that clearly defines who handles each project task;
- Understand the usefulness of network diagrams to estimate a realistic project timeline based on the critical path;
- Have a better view of a project's calendar schedule using a bar chart;
- Develop plans that deal with potential troubles if they occur;
- Monitor the progress of the project at every stage against planning charts and designs;
- Determine how to cope with changes during implementation and modify if necessary;
- Evaluate the project's success based on achievement of objectives, schedules, and budget;
- Closeout the project by informing the stakeholders and the project team that all tasks and activities have been accomplished;
- Communicate expectations and offer clear feedback;
- Support and improve project team performance;
- Conduct effective project meetings.
