Legislative Committee Meeting: Warehouse Receipts Law Amendments
The Legislative Committee of AmCham Philippines will be hosting a discussion on Warehouse Receipts Law Amendments on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Lodge Room, Manila Elks Club, 7/F Corinthian Plaza Building, Makati City.
The existing Warehouse Receipts Law regulates warehouse operators and outlines the rights and obligations of all parties involved. The proposed amendments seek to modernize the law by aligning it with global standards, enabling safer deposits, improving care through a unified regulatory body, and facilitating the use of Electronic Warehouse Receipts for credit. These updates aim to enhance security, transparency, and reliability while supporting farmers and SMEs.
Dr. Roehlano Briones, Warehouse Receipts Agricultural and Trade Specialist at UPPAF-RESPOND, will discuss the economic impact of the Warehouse Receipts Law amendments. Atty. Chester Abellera, Warehouse Receipts Legal Specialist at UPPAF-RESPOND, will then cover the key provisions of these amendments. Additionally, Commissioner Atty. Javey Francisco from the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission will provide his remarks on the topic.
