AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Event Details

The Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce of the Philippines will be hosting a webinar - Let's Get Rail: Updates on the Railway Projects of the Philippines - to be held on May 20, 2021 (Thursday) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN, via Zoom. Fees are now waived for this event, including the second installment of the series on June 24, 2021, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors: Globe Business, AIG, and Pacific Cross.

Attend our 2-part webinar to learn about the return of rail service to Luzon and its expansion in Metro Manila. The Philippines currently has less than 100 km of operating rail lines, all in Metro Manila. By comparison, Thailand has 4,400 km, without counting Bangkok. Aware that rail is the ideal mode for passenger transport, the DOTr, and the private sector - with support from JICA and ADB - is implementing a significant expansion of the rail network on Luzon and building new lines in Metro Manila. The PRC has also promised to finance and build new and restore old railroads under its BRI. Over US$ 20 billion worth of projects now under construction and being bid out will double the present network. If you love trains you should attend. Rail can change the way you travel around the city and to the north and south of Luzon. Learn about our future commuting and travel options.
