In today's labor markets, skills mismatch continues to become a growing challenge for workers and businessmen alike. While technological advances, demographic shifts, and globalization consistently transform the world of work and introduce new opportunities, these change drivers also pose challenges for workers to have adequate access to decent work on one hand, and for businesses to adapt to the changing environment in a sustainable manner. The COVID-19 pandemic is a change accelerator that spawned serious disruptions to the world of work, resulting in further aggravation of prevailing disparities in the social system.

It is very important to boost the momentum in investing in people's capabilities by prioritizing skills development and empowering people in the perspective of lifelong learning. Through the means of skilling, reskilling, and upskilling, people will be able to enhance their opportunities to have decent work, as the labor market moves into smoother transitions. This will augur well for the country's post-pandemic economic recovery.
