Event Details

The Overseas Security Advisory Council- Manila Country Chapter (OSAC) and the Security and Disaster Resources Group (SDRG) committee, one of the 20 committees of the Chamber spearheads information sharing sessions, meetings, and events related to its priorities. OSAC is a public-private partnership of the United States Embassy – Manila Regional Security Office (RSO) and the business community countrywide.

This meeting is a follow-on to expand the information provided in the well-received 27OCT2022 ZOOM meeting, entitled "Metro Manila Contingency Plan (OPLAN Metro Yakal Plus)." While the comments received from attendees were overall quite positive, there were requests for follow-ups and additional information. The speakers are intended to provide information in the gaps from the October meeting at the Manila Metro level, and specific company policy writing and planning level. These gaps were intentional in October, providing the demand for additional meetings.

This meeting is intended to provide the business community with suitable information for Metro Manila-based businesses to update their knowledge and planning. It is also intended to provide an enabling need for a third meeting, in 2023, that will address specific skills building for members.

Objectives:

  1. Update OSAC/SDRG members on Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) planning on handling a major earthquake in the metro area;
  2. Learn specific issues to be raised and highlighted in planning documentation for major earthquakes;
  3. Set a framework for additional programs for the coming year, that may set training and other standards for members in earthquake responses and resiliencies.
