Mr. Stephen I. Banares, or SIB for short, started his career in Security Bank Corporation where he rose from the ranks. He was with the Bank for more than 20 years. His last position was Senior Assistant Vice President – Head of Systems Division. Before this, he held positions in the different departments of the bank such as Branch Controllership, Audit, and Branch Banking.
He is a product of Security Bank’s Executive Training Program where he attended classroom and on-the-job training and seminars on several aspects of banking, leadership, management, and other soft skills. He was also one of the Bank’s certified trainers.
In 2003, Banares joined Informatics Philippines, master franchisor of Informatics Education LTD based in Singapore. He was the Vice President / Chief Operating Officer at the time of his resignation in December 2013. He later joined Philippine Bank of Communications as Vice President / Head of Process Management Group from August 2016 to October 2017.
He has been conducting trainings / seminars for banks and other corporate clients. These clients include Bankers Institute of the Philippines (BAIPHIL), EastWest Bank, ING Bank, Philippine Bank of Communications, Bank of Makati, UCPB Savings Bank, LBP Service Corp., Rural Bankers Ass’n. of the Philippines (RBAP), and Suzuki Phils., among others.
Presently, he is the Chairman of the Board of a progressive rural bank in North Luzon. He is also a Consultant at HR Management & Business Solutions, Inc. (HRMBSI) where he conducts seminars for its clients. He was also a part-time College Instructor at Informatics International College Eastwood Campus and Southville International School and Colleges where he handled accounting subjects.
He is the co-author of three books: 1) Easy Leadership Tips, 2) Easy Selling Tips, and 3) Accounting, Financial Management and Credit Granting Made Easy.
Banares graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City with a degree in Accountancy. He was awarded Distinguished Alumnus for Banking and Education in 2015. He also earned MBA units from University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City where he was a Dean’s Lister. He continued his MBA at Ateneo de Manila University in Makati. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
