The Intellectual Property Rights Committee of AmCham Philippines has invited the Office of Cybercrime of the Department of Justice, the Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Office of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, and the Anti-Cybercrime Group of the Philippine National Police to discuss the work that their offices are undertaking in deterring cybercrimes and in generating long-lasting solutions that would improve cyber enforcement. The session will also hear from these offices on how we could protect ourselves from cybercrimes and how to report them in case we encounter them.

    Atty. Gerald Vincent Sosa

    State Counsel, Office of Cybercrime at Department of Justice

    Atty. Gerald Vincent Sosa earned his BS Computer Science degree from Mapua University in 2011. During his senior year, he was also elected municipal councilor of Anda, Pangasinan. After his political stint, he went on to study law at San Beda University where he graduated in 2017. He was then admitted to the bar in 2018 and is currently in his third year as State Counsel at the DOJ - Office of Cybercrime where he is also a pivotal member of the office’s Pool of Trainers. On top of his academic credentials, he is also a certified computer and mobile forensic examiner. More recently, in early 2022, he got his cryptocurrency fundamentals and chainalysis reactor certifications.

    Atty. Dagsa earned her degree of Bachelor of Arts Major in Philosophy at the University of Santo Tomas in 1994 and her Bachelor of Laws degree from the same university in 1999. The following year, she passed the bar exams. In 2013, she earned her International Master of Law degree with specialization on Intellectual Property from the Ateneo Law School. Atty. Dagsa worked as a Court Attorney at the Court of Appeals right after she passed the bar exam and after a year went into private practice. In 2005, she joined the government service again as one of the Adjudication Officers of the Bureau of Legal Affairs (BLA) of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). Her work includes hearing and adjudicating Inter Partes cases and administrative cases involving IP violations. Atty. Dagsa is currently the Chief of the IPR Enforcement Office of the IPOPHL and is concurrently designated as an Adjudication Officer (Ad Hoc) of the BLA. Atty. Dagsa has attended various courses and trainings on intellectual property here and abroad. As part of the enforcement team, she handled many projects on enforcement like the trainings of prosecutors and investigators, FGDs and IP Colloquium for Commercial Court Judges in partnership with the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) and foreign counterparts. She has also been a resource person on various lectures regarding remedies on IP violations and IP enforcement.
