AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Event Details

The Legislative Committee (LegCom) is holding its monthly Legislative Committee Meeting on August 25, 2021 (Wednesday) from 09:30AM to 11:30 AM, via Zoom.

The meeting will start off with Dr. Ronald Holmes, President of Pulse Asia Research Inc., as he talks about their June 2021 Nationwide Survey on the State of the Nation Address. This survey reveals what Filipinos care most about in their daily lives.

The meeting will continue after with the usual updates on the status of JFC-PBG priority legislation.

Dr. Ronald Holmes, PhD

President at Pulse Asia Research Inc.

Ronald 'Ronnie' Holmes is a Full Professor in the Department of Political Science at De La Salle University Manila. He has been with the Department since January 1985. He has served as Chair of the Department and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Ronnie was also assigned to run two other La Salle Schools, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and De La Salle Zobel.

Outside the La Salle system, Ronnie served as 3-time president of the Philippine Political Science Association, chair of the Board of the Philippine Social Science Council and Chair of the Technical Panel for the Social Sciences and Communication of the Commission on Higher Education. He has been president of the research organization, Pulse Asia Research Inc. since 2008.

Ronnie obtained his Bachelor's degree in History-Political Science from De La Salle University-Manila, his Master's of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, and his Ph.D. In International, Political and Strategic Studies from the Australian National University.
