AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

Event Details

The AmCham Legislative Committee (LegCom) will host a Special Legislative Committee Meeting on May 5, 2021 (Wednesday) from 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM, via Zoom.

We will be joined by Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr., Chairperson of the House Committee of Constitutional Amendments, who will discuss the proposed amendments to the Constitution under Resolution of Both Houses No. 2 (RBH 2), and Rep. Junie Cua, Chairperson of the House Committee on Banks and Financial Intermediaries, who will discuss the Promotion of Digital Payments Act (HB 8992).

RBH 2 has the potential to open the doors to more foreign investment to the Philippines while HB 8992 can accelerate the country's much needed shift to digital transactions. We hope you can join us as our invited speakers discuss these important reform measures.
