AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

Event Details

We are one week away from AmCham-RESPOND's first briefing under the Special Reform Legislative Discussion Series to be held on January 29, from 9 am to 11am, at AmCham Hall, 2nd Floor, Corinthian Plaza Building, 121 Paseo de Roxas, Makati City.

This briefing will discuss proposed amendments to the 83-year old Public Services Act (Commonwealth Act 146) in House Bill No. 78 and four Senate Bills. This is an extremely important reform measure which will open up key sectors such as telecommunications and transportation to foreign ownership, to the benefit of the economy and consumers. President Duterte certified the bill as urgent in the 17th Congress and DOF Secretary Dominguez has identified it as a high priority of government. When enacted, the reform should result in many new opportunities for AmCham members to expand their investments into new activities.
