Undersecretary Kristine Y. Evangelista was appointed by former President Rodrigo Duterte as Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness and Marketing of the Department of Agriculture last August 2019 and as Undersecretary on September 1, 2021 and recently as Assistant Secretary by President H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.s and designated as Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs and DA Spokesperson.
A Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication major in Media Production at the Assumption College, and Masters in Public Management from Development Academy of the Philippine (DAP), Undersecretary Evangelista has a vast experience in advertising and marketing—as a public relations and marketing communications practitioner, a communication strategist and a teacher—prior to working at the Department of Agriculture (DA).
She produced video documentaries, television commercials as well as news and current affairs programs. Also part of her portfolio was the development of branding and marketing strategies for Ballet Philippines and several international cosmetic brands.
Leveraging her expertise in advertising and mass media, Undersecretary Evangelista taught Public Relations and Corporate Communications, Media Ethics, and Women in Media in her alma mater, Assumption College.
At the DA, Undersecretary Evangelista chairs the DA Bantay Presyo Advisory Committee and oversees the Department’s market-linkage activities, promotion of local agricultural products, and the identification of investment opportunities in the agri-fishery sector—in tandem with other DA offices, government agencies, local government units (LGUs) and partners from the private sectors.
In particular, she has been spearheading the implementation of the KADIWA, a program that started during former President Ferdinand E. Marcos‘ administration, designed to ensure that the products of farmers reach consumers without passing through a multilayered marketing system, giving local food producers and entrepreneurs the opportunity to earn more while ensuring quality, affordable food for consumers, and now one of the major program that the current administration of H.E. Ferdinand E. Marcos, Jr. wants to pursue and prioritize.
