A summary of findings in "Transformation of the Global Workforce: Remote Work" by Worldwide ERC in January 2021:

80.9% of large organizations (10,000 + employees) anticipate 50% or more of their workforce working remotely on a permanent basis.
76.3% of smaller organizations (1,001 to 10,000 employees) anticipate 50% or less of their workforce being remote on a permanent basis.

The findings clearly show that the shift is massive and very consequential. People are making new choices about where they want to live and creating new expectations about flexibility, working conditions and life balance that can't be undone.

In the near future, some organizations will adopt a hybrid-work model, with certain days in the office and others remote, and might align employees' in-office and remote schedules to create equity.

Businesses that do it well will drive engagement, achieve organizational agility, maintain alignment and empower teamwork across all disciplines and locations. They will have a competitive advantage in this new era of work.

Mir Awal Khademur Rahman is the Head of People at Ericsson Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines, responsible for the Human Resources function for these markets while being based in the Philippines.

In the span of the last 19 years, Awal has had a diverse background across Telecommunication, Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and Ready Made Garment (RMG) sectors as well as multiple corporations like Unilever, Perfetti Van Melle and Dada Limited. In addition, he has also had overseas posting experience with Ericsson in locations like Malaysia, and Bangladesh, to broaden his career in different multicultural environments and settings. Currently, Awal is responsible in formulating people strategy to complement business strategy as well as collaborating with the leaders during the time of Pandemic to ensure employee’s health and safety.

Vandana is an experienced Business Services and Hospitality Industry specialist bringing over 16 years of experience with expertise in areas of Client Services, Account Management and Service Delivery. She has been with Crown for 6 plus years and currently holds the position of Regional Account Manager – APAC based in Manila, Philippines and has been in the position since Jan 2020. Prior to that, she was the Client Services Manager for Philippines and has been instrumental in building the delivery capability through enhanced processes across the World Mobility business unit which included destination, corporate relocation and immigration services.

Vandana is a certified Global Mobility Specialist and a Bachelor of Science. She has firsthand experience in understanding an expatriate’s journey and the areas of support that would ensure a smooth and satisfactory experience having moved and worked in multiple countries. She is passionate about building solutions with a detailed understanding of the business and customer needs. She thrives on working with teams and partners to deliver seamless corporate solutions.
