AmCham Philippines

AmCham came to life in 1902 as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

This is a commitment of long-standing, as its mission statement declares:

The Chamber exists to serve the interests of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.”

###

Summary:

The COVID-19 outbreak has caused global economic distress and the Tourism sector has been experiencing devastating setbacks. In the Philippines, revenue from foreign arrivals for January to March 2020 plummeted to PHP 79.8 billion, a 40.62 percent decline compared to PHP 134.3 billion in the same quarter last year.**

Such scenario paints a dire outlook for the tourism industry and effective solutions to buck the dismal trend are badly needed.

Join us on May 21, 2020 at 2:00 P.M as we discuss "The Impact of COVID-19 on the Philippine Hospitality and Tourism Industry" together with Department of Tourism Undersecretary Benito C. Bengzon, Jr.

The AmCham Philippines Tourism and Hospitality committee is organizing this event to examine the magnitude of the damage dealt by the pandemic on the Philippine tourism and hospitality sectors. We will be discussing how the government is responding and rethinking to adapt the "new normal" together with its strategies to mitigate and even overcome the obstacles in reviving Philippine tourism.
